Alex Ruttenberg
Alex gained his passion for helping others through his own struggle with addiction and mental health. Due to a constant feeling of emptiness and boredom, he began using drugs at an early age. For a while, it seemed like life was going well, until it wasn’t. As many people have said throughout the years, in addiction you start back up right where you left off. For Alex, each time he left rehab and relapsed it got worse and worse.
After a suicide attempt he was ready for change. Experiencing an enlarged left ventricle amongst other health concerns, he understood the essentiality of staying clean and became ready to listen. He decided to invest in his future by attending a dual diagnosis facility in Los Angeles. There he was able to learn a myriad of ways to cope with his struggles, and learned to enjoy life without mind-altering substances. This life experience inspired Alex to give back to and help others in similar situations. If nobody would have taken the time out of their day to give to Alex, and his recovery, he would not be here today.

Myra Ruttenberg
Myra has always had a strong understanding of people and their emotional makeup. After graduating from the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, Myra found success as a business owner and event planner. In her career, she utilized her interpersonal skills to navigate her client's emotional needs, while focusing on attention to detail.
Growing up, Myra experienced the effects of divorce concerning her parents, and later in life navigated her children through this transition. Therefore, she understands how challenging this change can be for all parties — not just adults. After enduring the second-hand effects of addiction and mental health struggles through her son, she learned how isolating it can feel. When her son turned to substances to self medicate during this time, she realized it was a cry for help. While trying to find an adequate facility, she was often misinformed and misdirected. Myra’s goal with the ADR Foundation for Mental Health and Addiction is to provide the resources she struggled to find, while ensuring that the financial aspect does not prevent those in need from finding support. She knows how crucial these services are as addiction and mental health struggles are of a life or death nature. Thankfully, he is a survivor.
