About Us

ADR Foundation for Mental Health and Addiction was founded by mother and son duo, Myra and Alex Ruttenberg in 2022. They decided to take action during their own journey when they discovered there were some cracks in the mental health and addiction recovery world for young adults.

23,500,000 suffer from addiction in this country and only 10% percent ever receive treatment. 50% of these people have co-occuring disorders like depression, anxiety and PTSD. In 2021 8.8 million young adults reported having a mental illness and 5.1 million young adults reported having a substance abuse disorder. 42% of those with mental illness went untreated and 87% of those with substance use disorders went untreated. Addiction is the only disease that is not incorporated in our health care system there is no standard of care for residential treatment centers and sober living conditions. Young adults and their families are in crisis and need proper direction and care. ADR Foundation for Mental Health and Addiction was formed to address these core issues that exist within the rehabilitation world. Families are being misguided at the most critical and vulnerable time. They need a strong start and proper after care; each are costly. For many clients, insurance runs out mid-treatment; forcing them to be discharged prematurely, further exacerbating the mental health and addiction crisis.

Initially, we plan to donate funds to selected dual diagnosis facilities to extend clients’ stays until they are strong enough to leave for aftercare. Our website will reflect the most current and ever changing options that exist within the treatment world. It will be informative and supportive to help guide anyone and everyone. We plan to have information and support that clients and their families can depend on to learn which treatment center fits their needs. Treatment as a whole is very personal journey. Our plan is to help families navigate on this very personal journey where there is no one size fits all treatment option and there is no perfect answer. ADR Foundation was created to help clients and their families have access to proper “wrap-around care”. “Wrap-around care” starts with the first conversation about the client and their options for recovery and continues with aftercare; supporting the client and their family all the way through.

Average cost of treatment ranges anywhere from 10,000-100,000, depending on a number of variables. A goal of ADR Foundation is to provide funding towards scholarships for young adults in need.
